The Simpsons: Still good or has it lost it’s magic?
Published 1 year, 11 months ago in Entertainment.The Simpsons is entering it’s eighteenth season but is it still good as it was before? I used to watch the Simpsons and laugh my head off, but now it is so boring I have stopped watching it. Channel 10 makes the problem even worse by adverstising old episodes as new ones which really annoys me! I don’t know if I have simply grown out of it or if the Simpsons is just not funny anymore.
Do you feel the same, or do you still like it, or did you never find it entertaining?

I personally love the Simpsons, and although they may be running a little short on plot lines, I still find them hilarious! Granted, The Simpsons isn’t as funny as Drawn Together (Monday 9pm SBS), but it also isn’t as rude, which means that families can enjoy it. And 18 seasons!! You have to admire how the series has evolved, from just a family to a whole cast of characters. I can’t wait to see the Simpsons movie.
Sorry but I think the Simpsons lost it’s shine a few years ago. The new episode which aried start of the week was embarrassingly bad. Even my husband who is an avid fan said “i’m going to watch this just to teach myself a lesson” (that the good ‘ol Simpsons has gone). Sad but true….
The problem with the Simpsons, I think, is that Channel 10 has grasped hold of a particular set of 40 or so episodes and they WILL NOT LET GO!!! They play the same ones over and over and over again, so when it comes time to watch the new episodes we’re all sick of the characters! I know when I turn to Channel 10 and see a Simpsons character I instantly groan and change the channel. I love the Simpsons, but there is such a thing as overkill.
Yeah I agree. They have to resort to randomness to be funny which can be good but they’re relying on it too much I think. They’ve used all the good jokes and plots and it’s getting harder to find fresh material.
If the Simpsons was played every half an hour of the day I would still watch them, new and old, and I would still enjoy them. The newer episodes do it for me. The visual gags have increased, but that’s not to say that they’re not funny. THEY ARE.
Bring on The Simpsons Movie.
